Zurko Holds Auction At Shawano Community Center

Zurko Enterprises of Shawano, Wisconsin conducted an antique and collectible auction on Saturday, January 5th at the Shawano Community Hall. The Hall is located at 115 E. Division Street in downtown Shawano. Because of its size and location, the Community Hall has become the site for several indoor auctions in the Shawano area. The Hall offers both an upper and lower floor, so more than more than one event can take place at any given time.

The auction consisted of the estate of Jesse & Dorothy Strong of Oshkosh, as well as numerous collectibles from other parties. This was really a sale to attend, as there were several bargains throughout the day. The highlight of the auction was a pair of shackles with a key that sold for $410. A group lot of 6 Victorian hat pins brought $130. A super 2 drawer spool cabinet sold for only $70, that was definitely a great bargain! A set of 6 Civil War books sold to a happy buyer for $18 each, a total of $108. An early German sword and scabbard saw spirited bidding before selling for a high bid at $111. Another great bargain was a painted dry sink that left the block for only $35. Auctions can be fun and exciting and many people don't realize the bargains they can get. There are bargains at every auction! Its those bargains that add to the excitement and keep the people coming back.

The auctioneers for the event were Robert and Andrew Zurko. The ring people were Robert Potasnik, Dora Schlies, and Rene Somnicht. Irene Zurko and Sharon Bishop handles the clerking and Eileen Potasnik was the cashier.

Zurko Enterprises has been conducting and promoting collectible shows for around 25 years. When he's not holding an auction, Zurko Enterprises' owner, Robert Zurko, is kept busy all year long promoting several shows. Throughout the Summer, he also promotes the Shawano Flea Market, which is held every Sunday at the Shawano County Fairgrounds. Last year he added the Antigo Flea Market to his hectic schedule, which is held at the Landglade County Fairgrounds. Recently, he has taken on the management of the Grayslake Antique Market, which is held at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, Illinois every 2nd weekend of the month. Whew! Quite a busy schedule.
